I'm in need of the brace that the rear seat rests on and the latch plates for the upper part of the seat for my '68. All mounting hardware needed would be great too. Oh and I need the bolts that hold the back rest on. Anyone have any of this stuff lying around?
Does anybody have a set of deck lid brackets including the flat metal pieces lying around that they would be willing to part with? I just realized that I don't have them and well I kinda need a set.
Looking to offload my autostick transmission. I don't know much about it. The PO said it was smooth and it seemed to be fine the one trip up and down the street that I took it. I have it on CL for $300 but will go lower for a member.
Does anyone rent or loan out the Torque master tool in the NE area? I'm actually a little east of Vancouver out here in Washougal. I'm hoping to swap out the flywheel from my 4spd engine onto the autostick engine. Any help would be much appreciated.
So I thought I would start a project thread and get out of the introduction thread. I'm going to try and document the build of my '68 type 1. It should be a fun process. I'm going to post the original pics again just to have the starting point. So here we go.
Here it is as I brought it home with some nasty spray paint job. It has a little rust in the pan but other then that it's pretty solid. I am going to try and get some more pics this weekend so you can see the rest of it.
I'm thinking that one of these is what I want to ultimately end up with.
Hello everyone. My name is Donovan and I picked myself up a solid '68 autostick the other day. I have been wanting to get another bug for a long time my first car was a '66 Bug. Yup I kick myself in the butt all the time for getting rid of that thing. Well back to the '68. It's an autostick but I plan on putting a 4spd into it. It's had one half the pan replaced already and needs the other side done but it came with the panel so that's nice. Other then that the only rust I have spotted so far is a dime size hole in the driver side rear quater panel. You can see where the PO covered it with some rust convertor or something. It's really wierd there isn't any other rust around it just that one hole. It's like someone taped a wet piece of foam there and just kept it wet. Well that's enough for now. I'll start up a project thread when I can get some more pics taken.
