Tech Help Cars / Re: Engine running VERY rough
So I pulled the air cleaner off and looked down the throat of the carb while I had my son turn over the engine and I can see gas squirting so it appears the carb is working.

Static timed the distributor to 7.5 ATDC.
Pulled a spark plug, put in a spare(good) spark plug, grounded the plug and turned the engine over. No visible spark that I can see.
Replaced the coil with a new Bosch blue 12v and STILL no spark.

Rotor, cap and new plug wires are up next.

I'm really scratching my head on this one... :dontknow:

Tech Help Cars / Re: Engine running VERY rough
Unfortunately the issue has only become worse.

Now I can't get the engine to turn over at all so I can't check for vacuum leaks  :2down:

What I've down so far:

I've checked the fuel pump and its pumping fuel fine.
I've checked the idler jet on the carb(SOLEX 34Pict-3) and it is not clogged.
I replaced all 4 spark plugs.
I checked gap on all valves.
Can't check timing because can't get it to run at all now.
I took out the Pertronix and replaced with points and made no difference.
I pulled the carb, dissembled, cleaned all parts with carb cleaner and air and no difference.

Am at a loss on what to do next.... :dontknow:

Tech Help Cars / Engine running VERY rough
Hey all, have an issue with my stock 1600 DP I could use some advice with.

It was running absolutely fine one day and the very next day it started running extremely rough, like it was not getting fuel. I can start it with some finesse but it will not stay running but for about 30 seconds or so.

I've checked the fuel pump and its pumping fuel fine. I've checked the idler jet on the carb(SOLEX) and it is not clogged. I replaced all 4 spark plugs. I checked gap on all valves. I checked voltage at the coil. Can't check timing because can't get it to run long enough.

009 dizzy with Pertronix. My guess is a bad Pertronix or internal carb issues? Any thoughts would be appreciated so I don't just start taking everything apart.

General Chat / Re: Coffee and Cars
I also came across this link on CL for a new coffee shop in the Linton area looking for car clubs to cruise by:

Buy/Sell/Trade / Re: 67 wiper motor
Try Avery's in Kelso. I picked up one there a few years back for a 12v conversion.

Buy/Sell/Trade / ADJUSTABLE PUSHROD FOR MASTER CYLINDER
Looking for a usable adjustable pushrod that connects the brake pedal to master cylinder, early 60's Type 1 style.
A PO of my car welded mine so it is no longer adjustable, yep.

General Chat / Great way to come back into ACVW!
So today, while cruising down Hwy 217 south on my way to work, right before the I-5 interchange, the little lock plate/screw/etc. thingy that connects the master cylinder plunger to the brake pedal decided to completely disintegrate! Needless to say, my e-brake skills saved the day and I nursed her to work. Having the wife swing by at lunch to run me to DIP to get some repair bits and pieces... and maybe a fresh set of underwear!  :rotflmao:

Introductions / I'm baaaaaaaaack!
Sup Volksters!

Well after taking a few years off from the scene to play Jeeps, I have returned to the dark side! Sold my 1997 TJ that I have spent the last few years wrenching on a picked up a very solid '65 Type 1, where the previous owner had much work done at House of Ghia in Salem. Have a few minor issues to resolve but will be driving this beast daily from here on.  :cheers2:

[move] Momma said knock you out![/move]

Trade wasn't right, Jeep far outweighed the Bay window. That's OK, I've had my eye on something for a few years now that I am preparing for the right moment... :cheers2:

General Chat / Re: Possibly making a comeback
Time and money is relative to each person, but with ACVW parts are relatively inexpensive or someone usually has a donor part to get you out of a jam. With a lifted and modded 4x4, parts are unique to your application and are rarely inexpensive. Regardless, I'll end up wherever I need to  :driving:

Work, schmork.  That's bad @$$.  You should do that.

General Chat / Possibly making a comeback
Hey all, long time no talk.
Found a guy looking to trade a 71 Bus for a Subaru or 4x4 so............I offered up the Jeep. :undecided: Now with that said, I LOVE my Jeep, but they require time and money I don't have. ACVW's have always been user friendly and I know my family would enjoy the Bus more.
We shall see how this one plays out... :dontknow:

General Chat / Re: What are you doing today
Yep, a "true" red tail, a Suriname.
Didn't get the radiator done as the family car choked out and and had to use the Jeep as our only car. I tell ya, it doesn't matter if its ACVW or not, cars hate me.  :flamethrower:
